Project description: transnational issue the project intends to deal with

In the past few decades, technologies were developed that made it possible to supply energy to a small area from renewable resources in the form of heat and electricity.  Spotty network overload problems and a big dependency on electricity make local supply more and more urgent.  The Alpine Space is predestined for the production of electricity from hydro plants, photovoltaic and biomass.  Because of the small areas of settlement, however, large power plants are not suitable.  In order to be able to guarantee small area supplies, more small power plants have to be erected.  For this, the investment potential of the public has to be mobilized.

In den vergangenen Jahrzehnten wurden Technologien entwickelt, die eine kleinräumige Energieversorgung aus erneuerbaren Ressourcen in Form von Wärme und Strom ermöglichten. Punktuelle Netzüberlastungsprobleme und die große Energieabhängigkeit machen die lokale Versorgung immer dringlicher. Der Alpenraum ist für die Gewinnung von Strom aus Wasserkraft, aus Photovoltaik und der Biomasse Holz prädestiniert. Durch die kleinräumige Siedlungsstruktur sind jedoch Großanlagen nicht geeignet. Um die kleinräumige Versorgungssicherheit zu gewähren müssen vermehrt Energieproduzierenden Kleinanlagen errichtet werden, dazu muss das Investitionspotential der Bürger mobilisiert werden. 

Main objectives

The main objective of the project is to establish a public participation model for investments in energy production plants and with this give the citizens the chance for initiative and own provision in their hand.  In a broad shareholding process being carried out parallel to each other in numerous Alpine countries, the citizens were given information about the possibility of shareholding and concrete investment projects were initiated.  The Ecopower Stock Exchange serves as the organisational basis and platform.  A model that was established in the pilot application of the NENA project.  Existing know-how is used and applied for an environmentally friendlier future.

Das Projekt zielt darauf ab, Bürgerbeteiligungsmodelle zur Investition in Energieproduktionsanlagen zu etablieren und damit den Bürgern die Möglichkeit zur Initiative und zur Eigenvorsorge an die Hand zu geben. In einem breit angelegten Beteiligungsprozess parallel in mehreren Alpenländern werden Bürger über Möglichkeiten der Investitionsbeteiligung informiert und konkrete Investitionsprojekte initiiert. Als organisatorische Basis und Plattform dient die Öko Strombörse, ein Modell, dass im Projekt NENA in der Pilotanwendung etabliert wurde. So soll vorhandenen Know how genutzt und für eine Umweltfreundlichere Zukunft eingesetzt werden.

Envisaged Outcomes

Investment projects for the production of energy from renewable resources have been initiated in a number of Alpine countries.  With this, the public makes investments which is a sign of being proactive, with the target of a sustainable energy supply on a local level.  The strengthen the efficiency of resources and make decisions about sustainable provisions for the use of regenerative energies.

In mehreren Alpenländern wurden Investitionsprojekte zur Produktion von Energie aus erneuerbaren Ressourcen initiiert. Dabei beteiligen sich Bürger an der Investition und setzen damit ein Zeichen der Eigeninitiative mit dem Ziel, der nachhaltigen Energieversorgung auf lokaler Ebene. Sie stärken die Ressourceneffizienz und treffen nachhaltige Vorsorge für die Nutzung regenerativer Energien.
